General Roberts Draw With Phoenix

GENERAL Roberts and Phoenix Sports recorded a dramatic tie in round seven of Newcastle City and Suburban A grade on Saturday at Hexham Oval.

General Roberts needed one run off the final ball but did not score, leaving the match tied.

Phoenix made 9-163 from their 40 overs.

Jason Burrow (51 not out) was the only batsman who looked comfortable against General Roberts' Daniel Kerr (4-41).

In reply, General Roberts' Matt Ellerse matched Burrow's 51 and Phoenix's Greg Pain created plenty of problems for the batsman in a spell of 5-58.

In other matches, Elliotts Lambton (6-190) ended Merewether's (148) undefeated streak thanks to an innings of 77 not out from Brett Macaulay.

Lambton Bowling Club (6-91) maintained their place at the top of the ladder by beating Seven Seas Pirates (89), and Warners Bay (278) were emphatic winners over Tech College (177).
