PLATTSBURG Public School has been part of the Australian Sports Commission's Active After-School Communities Program since the start of the year.

The program is delivered at schools across Australia with a variety of games used to teach fundamental movement skills.

Plattsburg P.S. has 34 participants from Years 1 to 6 on each day of the program.

Students participate in a range of physical activities for 60 minutes and are provided with fresh fruit after each of the sessions.

"I like playing with kites," Plattsburg Year 1 student Isabella Goldfinch said.

Year 5 student Nicholas York said he enjoyed doing any skills that used soccer balls.

"Kicking them between the witches' hats is fun and so is playing with the bouncy balls," Nicholas said.

Plattsburg P.S. teacher Ms Anjella Bunn said that apart from the obvious benefits of physical activity and healthy eating, the program provides opportunities for children to socialise with their peers.
